Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is to engage learnings in a meaningful way that will plant a seed of excitement in the learning process. I believe students learn best with collaboration with their peers and being able to learn through discussion, process of elimination, and real-world problem solving. I approach teaching through a well-known pedagogy of Constructivism which I believe students will need to be successful life-long learners. I believe students learn best in an environment where they feel safe, encouraged, and free to explore their curiosity. Students should be well-rounded in many areas of learning, which include but not limited to, technology, social emotional behaviors, and of course, academics.
My classroom management styles revolves around high expectations and clear structure that allows students to know the clear boundaries within the classroom. I use reward systems that encourage students to complete their work, remain organized, be responsible and respectful to the teacher as well as their classmates. I integrate social emotional learning through morning meetings and encourage behaviors that reflect empathy and kindness towards others. I believe students should feel safe when they make mistakes and have an opportunity to learn from them, therefore, mistakes are not considered a disappointment in my classroom, but a time to be accountable and make it right.
My goals, my reason for teaching is to instill a love for learning in every child that I have contact with. I want students to love education, be curious about this world and what it offers, learn from mistakes, and be accountable for them. Above all else, I believe education is a life-long skill, therefore, I want my students to leave my classroom being excited about education and find their passion for learning.
